How do I know which service I need?
▼
- Choose Copyediting & Proofreading if your manuscript is nearly finished and just needs a final polish. Your structure and arguments are solid — you just need someone to catch grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors before you submit.
Choose Line Editing if your organization is in good shape but the writing itself needs tightening. I'll work at the sentence and paragraph level to improve clarity, flow, and word choice. You also get a revision round to address any follow-up questions. Note: this does not include copyediting.
Choose the Copyediting + Line Editing Bundle if you need both grammar corrections and sentence-level improvements. This is the most common choice for clients who want a comprehensive edit in one pass.
Choose Structural Editing if your manuscript needs reorganization. This is the right fit for doctoral capstones and dissertations where sections need reordering, redundancy needs consolidating, or the overall structure needs rethinking. You'll receive a detailed editorial memo with a revision roadmap. Note: you'll need copyediting and/or line editing afterward.

What payment methods do you accept?
▼
- I currently accept Venmo and Zelle. Invoice payment terms can be arranged.
-
How do your rates compare to industry standards?
▼
-
My pricing is based on the Editorial Freelancers Association's rate guidelines, which are the professional standard for editors in the United States. According to their latest data, academic editing typically ranges from $0.035–$0.08 per word depending on complexity and service level.
Here's where my rates fall within that range:
- Copyediting & Proofreading ($0.03/word): At the floor of the standard range for final-stage polishing
- Line Editing ($0.055/word): Middle of the standard range for sentence-level work
- Copyediting + Line Editing Bundle ($0.07/word): A discounted rate for clients who need both services
- Structural Editing ($0.08/word): High-intensity doctoral work focused on organization and argument development
-
What is your typical turnaround time?
▼
- Turnaround depends on word count and service level. Typically 3–7 business days for a 5,000-word manuscript on Line Editing. Rush options are available.
-
Do you work with non-academic clients?
▼
- Yes — I work with business articles, grant proposals, application essays, technical reports, and other professional materials. These projects are priced based on scope and deliverables rather than word count. See the "Professional & publication services" section above for details.
-
What's included in one revision round?
▼
-
What's included:
- Questions or clarifications about edits
- Minor adjustments based on your feedback
- Corrections of any errors made
- Light polish after you accept/reject changes
Additional work requires a new quote:
- Rewritten sections
- Added content
- Advisor feedback
- New manuscripts
-
Why does timeline vary?
▼
- Timeline depends on word count, service level, and manuscript complexity. For example, a 5,000-word journal article with clear writing takes less time than a 20,000-word dissertation with dense technical content.
Here are some general turnaround times for Line Editing and Structural + Line Editing:
- 5,000 words: 1 week
- 10,000 words: 2 weeks
- 20,000 words: 3 weeks
- 30,000+ words: 4–6 weeks
Copyediting & Proofreading typically runs faster. I provide a timeline for your particular request after reviewing your specific project.
